Dynamic Dialogue

This is about leveling UP. Two full days of concentrated betterment, refinement and study of communication skills. Limited to 12 participants to support direct, impactful coaching by industry experts in a small group setting. Building on previous knowledge, practice the skills in a safe setting and collaborate with other Communication Nerds. A huge benefit to those wanting to continue their study and development. 

Day 1.

Review of evidence based, dialogue skills that attendees have already been putting into practice. Overview of strategies for managing and navigating conflict conversations with clients and with team. Development of goals and plans moving forward.

What we’ll dive into Day 1.

  • Review of core dialogue skills,

  • application of dialogue skills to conflict with clients and coworkers, 

  • facilitating feedback to feed forward for colleagues, students and mentees

Day 2.

  • completion of 1 simulated interaction, 

  • observe and give coaching in five other simulations, 

  • practice the skills, 

  • wrap up and forward plans.

Leadership Workshop Speakers

Becky Taylor, RVT, MA

Becky Taylor has been dedicated to her career as a Registered Veterinary Technologist for over 25 years. In that time, she has worked in mixed animal practice, in education, and in corporate veterinary medicine. She has participated in hundreds of CE opportunities, sat on many national and provincial boards and considers herself a lifelong learner. A pinnacle of this learning was in 2016, when Becky completed a Master of Arts in Professional Communication through Royal Roads University. Her final project was authoring a paper on the role of RVT’s with clients and resulted in the creation of a communication model for RVT’s.

Becky shares her life with husband, Colin, and their 2 children, Nick and Maddy as well as many fur friends. Her passion outside of family and work is her horses and she can be found spending lots of her free time developing her skills in horsemanship as well as being with her herd of 4! She has recently partnered with a friend to create another cool side biz, The Horsewoman’s Club.


Cindy Adams (Master’s of Social Work, University of Calgary); PhD (Veterinary Epidemiology, Ontario Veterinary College)

Dr. Adams is a Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Co-Director of Professional Skills at the University of Calgary, Veterinary Medicine. Her primary role includes directing the Clinical Communication Program across the 4-year DVM program. Her secondary role involves conducting research related to communication in small and large animal practice settings, veterinary professional mental health, veterinary practice culture and research that has to do with veterinary education and human-animal interactions. She is called upon to assist schools across North America, Australia, Chili, Brazil, Caribbean. Italy to design and deliver communication programs. She works with veterinary practices across North America to address threats and challenges to practice culture resulting in burnout, fatigue, anxiety, suicide.

She consults nationally and internationally in veterinary medicine on all applications of communication in veterinary medicine. She is the founder and Chair of the International Conference on Communication in Veterinary Medicine, founder and Board member for the International Veterinary Communication Institute, Faculty member for the Institute for Healthcare Communication, New Haven Ct. Her most recent contribution to the profession is a handbook entitled: Skills for Communicating in Veterinary Medicine. This book was written for all members of the practice team as well as those responsible for training and coaching communication in a variety of settings. Dr. Adams was the recipient of the Peak Scholar in Entrepreuneurship, Innovation & Knowledge in 2019.s.
