Strategies To Make Every Receptionists Day Better
Receptionists and Client Care teams ONLY. This two day workshop for the front line people of veterinary clinics and hospitals dives into dialogue skills making the most difficult conversations become the most rewarding ones. A special event to share ideas, best practices and connect with like minded people. Specialized content for this important and often overlooked role.
Day 1:
Introduction and overview of six, evidence based, dialogue skills, presented in a way that all attendees can begin to build their skills. While there is no ‘role play’, attendees will share case studies and challenges and will discuss how to apply the skills in all conversations. Further to that is how we use these skills to adjust our mindset and reframe thinking around value, fees and discussions of finance with clients.
What we’ll dive into Day 1.
Introduction of 6 core dialogue skills,
practical applications to build skills,
introduction of strategies to talking about money & value with clients.
Day 2:
We continue to apply and integrate core dialogue skills into direct discussions with clients when presenting estimates and invoices, participating in euthanasia and end of life conversations and managing challenging situations. As we progress through using the skills, we build them into how we manage ourselves as professionals, as mentors and mentees and how to navigate the conflict that is a normal part of being on a team.
What we’ll dive into Day 2.
Applying the Dialogue Skills,
discussing estimates and invoices with clients,
building a positive culture around value to clients and to team,
offering feedback to feedforward within the team and with new team members,
building relationships amongst our team.

Becky Taylor, RVT, MA
Becky Taylor has been dedicated to her career as a Registered Veterinary Technologist for over 25 years. In that time, she has worked in mixed animal practice, in education, and in corporate veterinary medicine. She has participated in hundreds of CE opportunities, sat on many national and provincial boards and considers herself a lifelong learner. A pinnacle of this learning was in 2016, when Becky completed a Master of Arts in Professional Communication through Royal Roads University. Her final project was authoring a paper on the role of RVT’s with clients and resulted in the creation of a communication model for RVT’s.
Becky shares her life with husband, Colin, and their 2 children, Nick and Maddy as well as many fur friends. Her passion outside of family and work is her horses and she can be found spending lots of her free time developing her skills in horsemanship as well as being with her herd of 4! She has recently partnered with a friend to create another cool side biz, The Horsewoman’s Club.
